I shadowed, and then I was certain
My advisor’s daughter in college was a chiropractor. When she spoke to a small group of us and explained how the brain and nervous system worked and how chiropractic helped that system, I was instantly hooked. I shadowed chiropractors in the area and found that they all had two things in common.
One, they LOVED their work. Two, their patients loved the care they received and looked forward to coming in for care because they always felt better. I thought, "What a great career!" I haven’t looked back since, and I am so grateful I stumbled into this profession!
What makes me different
I am a really good listener and ask the right questions to figure out the best answer(s) to your questions. Many patients have told me that I can get things to move and feel better in the spines that no chiropractor has ever been able to do. I LOVE working with babies, they are the best!
What an adjustment feels like
A gentle pressure and a quick specific push. When you feel good, adjustments feel good. When your spine hurts, sometimes an adjustment can hurt a little bit. But we find a way to get you feeling better with the least amount of discomfort possible.
Outside the office
I am happily married and have four amazing children. I enjoy spending time with them all. We travel this beautiful country and visit national parks. We play games, hike, fish, camp, paddleboard and kayak, and downhill and cross-country ski. We are always trying new things, like ice fishing, hunting, mountain biking and bikepacking.
Where I focus
Every doctor at Chiropractic Company is trained to care for the full range of spinal and musculoskeletal conditions. What differs between us is the additional training we’ve done and the patients we’ve spent the most time with.
Weekend warrior symptoms from sitting at a desk all week and then playing golf, pickleball or other sports on the weekends.
Kids coming in for prevention and wellness or injuries and illnesses that their bodies aren’t adapting to well enough.
Women who want to have healthy pregnancies, or are having difficulties moving and sleeping in the last two trimesters or post partum.
Conditions I treat
Like every doctor at our Brookfield office, I care for the full range of conditions below.
How I work
Families in the Brookfield, Elm Grove and Pewaukee areas.
Gonstead
I love cervical chair and have many people that tell me their neck has never adjusted so well.
Activator / instrument
A gentle and effective way to help people without all the cracking and popping. Kids especially love it!
Extremity adjusting
Most people are blown away by all of the extremity joints I can adjust and how much relief and function that can provide
Diversified
The most widely used chiropractic technique — a specific, hands-on thrust to restore motion in a restricted joint. This is what most people picture when they think of getting adjusted.
Thompson drop-table
A section of the table drops a short distance as the adjustment is delivered, so less manual force is needed to move the joint.
SOT / blocking
Padded wedges placed under the pelvis let body weight do the correcting over several minutes. Very little force applied directly.
Upper cervical
Precise work on the top two vertebrae, where the head meets the neck. Small corrections here affect posture further down.
Logan Basic
Sustained light contact at the base of the spine. Among the gentlest techniques in use.
Pediatric / low-force
Adjusting scaled to a child, using roughly the pressure you would use to check a ripe tomato. Nothing like an adult adjustment in force or technique.
Geriatric / modified
Adjustments adapted for reduced bone density, arthritis and limited range of motion. Lower force, different positioning.
Also uses Motion palpation, X-ray analysis, Movement screening, Gait analysis and Digital foot scan.
You decide what I do
I let them know that it is their body and they are in control of what we work on. I also ask why they say that and what led them to that decision.
When I’ll send you somewhere else
If something on their exam or x-ray that is more pressing to get evaluated by a specialist before taking care of whatever it was that brought them in to see me. To a orthopedic doctor if their knees, hips or shoulders have too much degeneration and it’s too late for adjustments. For labs if I suspect significant underlying complicating issues.
