Chiropractor for Truck Drivers in Milwaukee
Long hours behind the wheel leaving your back stiff and sore? Let’s look for what’s behind it.
Trusted, personal care in neighborhood clinics throughout Greater Milwaukee.
Common problems for drivers
If your back complains more after a long haul or a full day of deliveries, your seat may be part of the story.
Why long hours behind the wheel wear on your body
A 2022 review of 25 studies looked at back and joint problems in people who drive for work.2
Road vibration through the seat was repeatedly linked to lower back pain. Long, unbroken sitting and long workdays also raised the risk.2
In 2018, heavy and tractor-trailer truck drivers had 14,810 muscle, joint, and back injuries that kept them off work. They missed a median of 21 days.1
Back pain isn’t the only problem. Drivers also report neck, shoulder, knee, and foot pain.2
How chiropractic care helps drivers
Your doctor listens, checks how your back, hips, and neck move, and talks through care that fits your schedule.
If you don’t want an adjustment
Say so, and your doctor won’t adjust you. Gentle joint movement, muscle work, and exercise are other options. You choose your care.
Spinal adjustments
Targeted adjustments help stiff joints in your back and neck move more freely.
Gentle joint and muscle work
Slow movements and pressure ease tight muscles in your lower back, hips, and neck.
Stretches for the road
Short stretches you can do at a fuel stop or loading dock.
A look at your seat and routine
Your doctor asks how you sit, load, and climb in and out, then suggests practical changes.
Physical therapy and massage
Physical therapy at Menomonee Falls, Waukesha, and West Allis North. Massage at Hales Corners and Oconomowoc.

A seat setup that’s easier on your back
A few minutes setting up your seat can make a long day easier on your back.
- Set the seat height so your feet rest flat and your knees bend about 90 degrees.3
- Slide the seat so you can press each pedal without lifting or twisting off the seat.3
- Recline the backrest slightly, to about 100 to 110 degrees.3
- Adjust the lumbar support so it meets your lower back firmly but comfortably.3
- Hold the wheel at 9 and 3, with your elbows close to your sides.3
- Don’t go straight from a long drive to heavy lifting. Walk and stretch first.3
- Get out of the seat and walk at fuel stops, rest breaks, and deliveries.
Use three points of contact
Grip the grab handle, use every step, and get stable footing on the ground. Never jump down from the cab.4
Rideshare or commuting?
The same seat tips apply in a car. Stand up and move whenever you stop.
What to expect at your first visit
Share your story
Your doctor asks what brings you in, when it started, what makes it better or worse, your daily activities, and your goals.
Get a thorough exam
Your doctor checks how your spine and joints move, where it’s tender, and your strength, reflexes, and sensation. X-rays are taken if needed.
Talk through your options
Your doctor explains what they found and walks you through care options. You decide what's right for you.
Begin care at your next visit
Treatment begins at visit two. In acute cases, your doctor may decide same-day treatment is appropriate.
You'll see the same doctor as your care continues, so the person treating you knows your history and your progress.
Care that fits your coverage
We’re in-network with most insurance plans, including Medicare, and our team can check your benefits before you come in. No insurance? New patients can start with the $29 first visit.
