It started with my mother
I wanted to be a veterinarian. I toured vet school when I was in college, and it didn’t feel right My mom was seeing a chiropractor, and he mentioned there was chiropractic for animals.
I toured a few chiropractic schools, and the whole body and holistic approach really resonated with me. I thought I might only see animals after finishing school and getting my certification, but after some of my clinicals, I figured out I liked treating people too.
What makes me different
I am great at neck adjustments- I get a lot of compliments. Soft tissue work is important and I spend the time so adjustments last longer. Expectations are important, so I am sure to cover what is going to happen in an appointment the first visits a patient sees me. My favorite adjustment is giving someone their very first adjustment.
What an adjustment feels like
The goal of an adjustment is to take pressure and tension off your nervous system. We can do that hands on, with an instrument, or other way. It’s like improving the cell phone signal in your body so your brain can communicate better with the rest of your body.
Outside the office
I am married and my husband works at Northwestern Mutual. We have 1 daughter who is 4. I also have 2 step kids- a stepdaughter in high school and a 10-year-old stepson. We like hiking and sports (especially baseball). Door County is a favorite place of ours to vacation. I grew up in the Milwaukee area and graduated from Pius XI.
Where I focus
Every doctor at Chiropractic Company is trained to care for the full range of spinal and musculoskeletal conditions. What differs between us is the additional training we’ve done and the patients we’ve spent the most time with.
All Mothers- moms with lower back pain from driving their children to activities and the nursing moms with upper back and neck pain.
Children with ear infections, constipation, hyperactivity, and kids whose parents are looking to promote general wellness and overall healthy growth.
Desk workers dealing with tension headaches, neck and back pain, and generally feel stiff from the constant stress of sitting and looking at a screen.
Conditions I treat
Like every doctor at our Brookfield office, I care for the full range of conditions below.
How I work
Brookfield most often sees active families and individuals with work-related pain and stiffness. We most frequently see lower back, neck, and upper back pain and tightness along with headaches.
Myofascial release
I like addressing the muscles attached to the joints I’m trying to affect. Adjustments hold better and it helps release tension and tight from stress.
Diversified
A great way to manually release misalignments and restore motion to the spine and extremities.
Drop technique
The table helps me adjust in a way that is more gentle than diversified but is effective for getting the joint motion I am looking for.
Thompson drop-table
A section of the table drops a short distance as the adjustment is delivered, so less manual force is needed to move the joint.
Activator / instrument
A small handheld instrument delivers a controlled, low-force impulse to a specific spot. No twisting, no popping sound.
Extremity adjusting
Adjusting joints outside the spine — shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees, ankles and feet. Often what a spine-only approach misses.
Logan Basic
Sustained light contact at the base of the spine. Among the gentlest techniques in use.
Pediatric / low-force
Adjusting scaled to a child, using roughly the pressure you would use to check a ripe tomato. Nothing like an adult adjustment in force or technique.
Motion palpation
Feeling how each joint moves through its range rather than assessing it at rest. This is how a restricted segment gets found — often not where the pain is.
X-ray analysis
On-site imaging when it will change the plan. Used to rule things out as much as to confirm them.
Also uses Digital foot scan, Instrument-assisted (Graston/IASTM), Kinesiology taping, Electrical stimulation and Custom orthotics.
You decide what I do
I first ask why they don’t want me to touch their neck- I want to address if it is fear, previous bad experience, etc. Then I discuss alternative adjustment methods, like instrument, drop piece, etc. if necessary.
When I’ll send you somewhere else
If a patient is not making progress within the first 3-4 visits, I discuss further imaging (MRI or CT). Based on the findings of the imaging, I refer them to whatever provider I think best to suit their needs, whether ortho, neuro, or PT. I also refer out when there are red flags on their initial x-rays or exam.
