Meet your chiropractor

It started with my mother

My mom starting taking my brother and I to her chiropractor when we were 7 & 8 years old. There’s a history of scoliosis on my dad’s side of the family and she didn’t want us to have spinal pain issues as adults. We would go to the chiropractor growing up on a regular basis as well as for sports injuries and colds.

What makes me different

Often told I’m really good at finding the right spot. I have a few tried and true techniques that I use often with most patients, but also know that everyone is unique and may require a modification or something different at their visits. I also frequently adjust upper and lower extremities.

What an adjustment feels like

I’ll be feeling along your spine, I may ask you to take a breath in and out with some of the adjustments, with others the table may lift up & move down while I’m putting light to moderate pressure at the joints that are needing adjusting.

Outside the office

I grew up in Waukesha, attended St Joe’s, Catholic Memorial and South schools. I’ve lived in Wind Lake since 2002. I have two daughters, the older is currently attending UW-Plateville, the younger is at Muskego high school. I enjoy gardening, cooking, walks/ runs with my dog Carl. Being out on the lake or on a motorcycle ride are also my happy adventures.

Focus areas

Where I focus

Every doctor at Chiropractic Company is trained to care for the full range of spinal and musculoskeletal conditions. What differs between us is the additional training we’ve done and the patients we’ve spent the most time with.

Pediatrics & pregnancy

Specialize in torticollis(head tilt), colic, latching issues, digestive trouble, teens with neck and back pain related to poor posture & sports injuries. Highly trained in pregnancy low back pain and post-partum postural correction.

Recreational athletes

Enjoy helping to improve exercise performance in active adults with less neck, low back and foot pain.

Technique

How I work

Hales corners is a lot of middle class families and active adults. Neck and low back pain most days, with a steady stream of bending, lifting, sitting, computer use and sports related complaints.

Usually first

Diversified

Palmer manual and drop techniques to align vertebrae while providing comfort

Then

Soft tissue & trigger points

helps spinal segments adjustment with ease

Also

Xray analysis

to check the level of Health, degeneration of joints and discs of the spine, to give more accurate diagnosis, specific adjustments and treatment plans

Structural

Gonstead

A detailed analytical approach that identifies one specific segment rather than adjusting a region. Usually paired with x-ray and palpation findings.

Low force

Thompson drop-table

A section of the table drops a short distance as the adjustment is delivered, so less manual force is needed to move the joint.

Low force

Activator / instrument

A small handheld instrument delivers a controlled, low-force impulse to a specific spot. No twisting, no popping sound.

Disc & nerve

Cox flexion-distraction

A segmented table gently stretches the spine to open the space around a compressed disc or nerve root. Often used for sciatica and disc complaints.

Beyond the spine

Extremity adjusting

Adjusting joints outside the spine — shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees, ankles and feet. Often what a spine-only approach misses.

Children

Pediatric / low-force

Adjusting scaled to a child, using roughly the pressure you would use to check a ripe tomato. Nothing like an adult adjustment in force or technique.

Seniors

Geriatric / modified

Adjustments adapted for reduced bone density, arthritis and limited range of motion. Lower force, different positioning.

Also uses Motion palpation, X-ray analysis, Active Release Technique, Myofascial release and Trigger point therapy.

Two things worth knowing

You decide what I do

I may ask is there’s a specific reason why? Then can either offer other technique options or let them know that’s fine to treat the other areas of their body with complaints.

When I’ll send you somewhere else

If there’s a red flag in hx, exam and/or on xray I’ll recommend to follow up with their MD or an orthopedic; and on occasion depending on the level of severity of red flag issue have had to recommend urgent care due to high blood pressure, kidney stones and pain levels.

For most people, no. You may hear or feel a pop, which is gas releasing from the joint rather than bones cracking. Some people feel mild soreness afterward, similar to after a workout, usually for a day or less.

Plan for about an hour. That covers the consultation, the exam, and X-rays if they’re needed. At your second visit, Dr. Rademaker goes over the results and your care plan. Follow-up visits are shorter.
