Meet your chiropractor

It started with my father

My dad had terrible hip pains his entire childhood, turns out he had a childhood degenerative hip condition and said that seeing a Chiropractor changed his life as an adult. I was considering medical school already but felt that solely treating with drugs and surgery wasn’t the answer and I always wanted to find the source of the problem not simply treating the symptoms.

What makes me different

I treat people the way I want to be treated. Honest and caring, no sales and trying to convince you of something you do not want. I think the doctor patient relationship is very important, I want to be approachable and open to my patients’ feelings and questions.

What an adjustment feels like

What I am going to do is help restore the body’s natural joint motion in your spine. There are joint alignment issues along with muscle and nerve tension, and we will address them all but if we get the spine moving properly, the body will take care of the rest.

Outside the office

I am a husband to my wife of 33 years, we have two grown children, and we were blessed with a now 2-year-old granddaughter. Born and raised in the Milwaukee area, and after practicing Chiropractic for many years in northern Wisconsin, we wanted to be closer to family. We enjoy family time and are active outdoors, hiking, biking and camping

Focus areas

Where I focus

Every doctor at Chiropractic Company is trained to care for the full range of spinal and musculoskeletal conditions. What differs between us is the additional training we’ve done and the patients we’ve spent the most time with.

Recreational athletes

recreational athletes need regular care to prevent lower back pain, often improper lifting techniques and sports can cause herniated discs and shoulder pain

Desk & office workers

Most desk and office workers experience neck pain and stiffness with headaches, long-term sitting also aggravates the spinal discs

Seniors (65+)

older patients often experience joints pain and nerve pain associated with degenerative changes.

Technique

How I work

Grafton sees a lot of active older patients and retirees. whole families often get treated in our clinic

Also

Activator / instrument

A small handheld instrument delivers a controlled, low-force impulse to a specific spot. No twisting, no popping sound.

Adjusting

Diversified

The most widely used chiropractic technique — a specific, hands-on thrust to restore motion in a restricted joint. This is what most people picture when they think of getting adjusted.

Disc & nerve

Cox flexion-distraction

A segmented table gently stretches the spine to open the space around a compressed disc or nerve root. Often used for sciatica and disc complaints.

Assessment

Motion palpation

Feeling how each joint moves through its range rather than assessing it at rest. This is how a restricted segment gets found — often not where the pain is.

Assessment

X-ray analysis

On-site imaging when it will change the plan. Used to rule things out as much as to confirm them.

Assessment

Digital foot scan

A pressure scan of both feet, showing how weight distributes and where the arch is collapsing.

Soft tissue

Active Release Technique

Pressure held on a muscle while it is taken through its range, to free adhesions that have built up between tissue layers.

Soft tissue

Trigger point therapy

Direct, sustained pressure on a tight band within a muscle until it releases.

Disc & nerve

Spinal decompression / traction

Mechanical traction that creates negative pressure inside the disc, drawing it away from the nerve.

Modality

Electrical stimulation

Surface electrodes deliver a light current that interrupts the pain signal and reduces muscle guarding.

Also uses Ultrasound, Corrective exercise, PNF stretching, Ergonomic assessment and Custom orthotics.

Two things worth knowing

You decide what I do

I ask about their fears and if the neck is truly the problem, I will offer gentle stretching and non-adjusting techniques such as activator or joint mobilization.

When I’ll send you somewhere else

Any significant red flags would be an urgent care referral, or referral to a specialist. Often after a set amount time treating, a pain management referral is in order. If I will not be able to give the patient the time and focus their specific case requires, I will not hesitate to send them to the proper healthcare provider.

For most people, no. You may hear or feel a pop, which is gas releasing from the joint rather than bones cracking. Some people feel mild soreness afterward, similar to after a workout, usually for a day or less.

Plan for about an hour. That covers the consultation, the exam, and X-rays if they’re needed. At your second visit, Dr. Edwards goes over the results and your care plan. Follow-up visits are shorter.
