Meet your chiropractor

I had the headaches first

I used to get headaches every day and think that was normal. A family friend who was a chiropractor showed me that not only was that not normal; but I didn’t have to live with it.

What makes me different

I have both the higher force technique and the lowest force technique with diversified and then Logan Basic. Each adjustment I’m not just looking at what area needs to move, but is the whole body talking and connected for faster healing.

What an adjustment feels like

When the joints are not moving properly the communication between the brain and body have a disconnect. I restore joint motion and therefore the brain/body connection with each adjustment.

Outside the office

I started practicing in the Chicago area but got annoyed coming to Wisconsin every weekend to visit family so here I am. Now we have two kids under five. At this point we are riding bikes around the neighborhood and swimming in any lake we can find.

Focus areas

Where I focus

Every doctor at Chiropractic Company is trained to care for the full range of spinal and musculoskeletal conditions. What differs between us is the additional training we’ve done and the patients we’ve spent the most time with.

Trades & manual labor

Mostly repetitive low back and neck injuries from work requirements or postures

Recreational athletes

Recreational athletes who noticed back/neck pain that was not there before and there have not been any significant changes to training or competition injuries

Pregnancy

Low back pain/pressure is common in pregnancy; that does not mean that you need to suffer for 9 months

Technique

How I work

Grafton is a family-centered clinic. We help parents and grandparents keep up with their kids/grandkids; we help athletes remain competitive; and we help expectant moms be more comfortable in their pregnancy

Usually first

Diversified

it helps a lot of people

Then

Logan Basic

not everyone wants to hear a pop, some people like lighter techniques

Also

Activator / instrument

there is specificity and a testing technique is built into it

Low force

Thompson drop-table

A section of the table drops a short distance as the adjustment is delivered, so less manual force is needed to move the joint.

Disc & nerve

Cox flexion-distraction

A segmented table gently stretches the spine to open the space around a compressed disc or nerve root. Often used for sciatica and disc complaints.

Beyond the spine

Extremity adjusting

Adjusting joints outside the spine — shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees, ankles and feet. Often what a spine-only approach misses.

Children

Pediatric / low-force

Adjusting scaled to a child, using roughly the pressure you would use to check a ripe tomato. Nothing like an adult adjustment in force or technique.

Assessment

X-ray analysis

On-site imaging when it will change the plan. Used to rule things out as much as to confirm them.

Assessment

Movement screening

Watching how you move through a set of positions to find the limitation driving the complaint.

Soft tissue

Trigger point therapy

Direct, sustained pressure on a tight band within a muscle until it releases.

Also uses Kinesiology taping, Spinal decompression, Electrical stimulation, Ultrasound and Corrective exercise.

Two things worth knowing

You decide what I do

Ask why. Sometimes people are misinformed, sometimes people had a bad experience. We talk about it and come to an agreement.

When I’ll send you somewhere else

Knee or shoulder pain that is looking more like a tear I refer out for an ortho consult.

For most people, no. You may hear or feel a pop, which is gas releasing from the joint rather than bones cracking. Some people feel mild soreness afterward, similar to after a workout, usually for a day or less.

Plan for about an hour. That covers the consultation, the exam, and X-rays if they’re needed. At your second visit, Dr. Kappeler goes over the results and your care plan. Follow-up visits are shorter.

Yes. We’re in-network with most insurance companies, including Medicare, and we bill your plan for you. What you pay depends on your plan’s copay, deductible, and coinsurance. Verify your insurance before your visit, or call (262) 377-2400.

No referral is needed. Some insurance plans may require one for full benefits. Our team can check when you verify your insurance.
