Why I became a chiropractor
It is a lesser invasive alternative treatment for pain, decreasing use of NSAIDS or other medicines that may damage the body. I am an advocate for natural healing and allowing a person’s body to heal on its own once I remove the joint interference. Going as a teenager allowed me to see that there are better ways of becomes pain free, more mobile and allow muscles to function properly when used.
What makes me different
I tend to work well with athletes, being one myself. Since I’ve gone through most of these issues within the body myself, it becomes easier to explain to patients with the knowledge that I have. I really try to explain things to them so that they can apply the knowledge and understand why they feel the way they do.
What an adjustment feels like
An adjustment is essentially moving a joint or joints that are “stuck,” immobile or perhaps moving too freely. When this happens, they start affecting the body in negative ways, such as causing pain, immobility, muscles tightness or organ dysfunction. An adjustment helps align the spine, improving these conditions.
Outside the office
I am a big family person from the UP of Michigan. Any chance to see my family and I am there. This is why I moved from chiropractic college in MN to WI, because this is where my family is. I enjoy any outdoor activities, especially kayaking or any water related activities. I also enjoy weightlifting at the WAC and enjoy spending time with my 3 cats.
Where I focus
Every doctor at Chiropractic Company is trained to care for the full range of spinal and musculoskeletal conditions. What differs between us is the additional training we’ve done and the patients we’ve spent the most time with.
Lower back/sciatic pain in ages 65+ patients
Lower back/sciatic pain in ages 65+ patients. Shoulder pain from lack of activity. Sports injuries from too much activity.
Upper back and neck pain and stiffness from sitting daily, usually postural. Carpal tunnel from desk patients constantly using mouse at their computer.
Sports injuries from athletes continued activity from recreational sports or competitive sports. Shoulder and knee pain from patients who weight lift on a daily basis.
Conditions I treat
Like every doctor at our Franklin office, I care for the full range of conditions below.
How I work
The most common patients seen at Franklin are retiree patients and elderly patients.
Soft tissue
To relax muscles and allow their pain to feel different from when they walked in.
Motion palpation
To examine on how joint is moving and what may be limiting it.
Diversified
Using a multiple adjusting approach to appropriately move a joint that is incapable.
Gonstead
A detailed analytical approach that identifies one specific segment rather than adjusting a region. Usually paired with x-ray and palpation findings.
Thompson drop-table
A section of the table drops a short distance as the adjustment is delivered, so less manual force is needed to move the joint.
Activator / instrument
A small handheld instrument delivers a controlled, low-force impulse to a specific spot. No twisting, no popping sound.
Extremity adjusting
Adjusting joints outside the spine — shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees, ankles and feet. Often what a spine-only approach misses.
X-ray analysis
On-site imaging when it will change the plan. Used to rule things out as much as to confirm them.
Gait analysis
Watching how you walk. Foot, knee, hip and back complaints frequently trace back to something happening at heel strike.
Active Release Technique
Pressure held on a muscle while it is taken through its range, to free adhesions that have built up between tissue layers.
Also uses Myofascial release, Trigger point therapy, Electrical stimulation, Corrective exercise and PNF stretching.
You decide what I do
If neck adjustments make you uncomfortable manually, we can always use an activator technique that is less invasive and more conservative.
When I’ll send you somewhere else
If X-rays show something that is out of the chiropractic scope, such as abdominal aortas, potential cases of bone tumor/cancer, or organ related disorders, I would refer either to primary doctor, orthopedic or oncology. Neurological exams may also show potential spinal deficits which may then be referred to neurology.
