Meet your chiropractor

It started with my father

My father is a chiropractor, so I was always somewhat destined to follow this path. But, when I was a high school athlete I began suffering from severe shin splints, knee, hip, and low back pain. When working with my dad on this new issue, I got a first-hand experience with chiropractic care as an active patient. In a matter of a couple weeks, I was significantly better and back to playing 100%.

I had always been under wellness/preventative care growing up, so my progress was quite fast compared to patients that had never had any care in the past. From this experience I wanted to do this for other people and athletes.

What makes me different

I explain everything as I go. Patients have told me it’s the first time anyone showed them what was actually happening in their back. I prefer to get patients involved in their care and want them to understand what is going on and why we are doing what we are doing.

What an adjustment feels like

I am looking for misalignments in your spine. That tells me something is not moving right. I adjust the misalignment to correct that motion so you can have improved movement.

Outside the office

I moved here following my wife as she finished school for her PhD in psychotherapy and is now running her clinic in Brookfield. We also have a son who keeps me busy and active. I enjoy exercising and particularly enjoy golfing at the many courses around the region.

Focus areas

Where I focus

Every doctor at Chiropractic Company is trained to care for the full range of spinal and musculoskeletal conditions. What differs between us is the additional training we’ve done and the patients we’ve spent the most time with.

Desk & office workers

Patients that work at desks with neck and low back pain, sciatica, as well as headaches and migraines due to mostly posture stress.

Trades & manual labor

Workers who are hard on their bodies with pain in their neck, low back, knees, hips, and shoulders. Especially work specific injuries.

Athletes 12+

Athletes of all ages and skill level with pain in their spine as well as extremities.

Technique

How I work

Greenfield has a large number of workers, both manual labor and desk jobs. Most raising families with children that are in athletics.

Usually first

Gonstead

I want to be specific in correction of spinal misalignment.

Then

Thompson drop-table

I start with low-force and add manual work as a patient is able to tolerate more pressure..

Also

Trigger point release

I release the tension in the musculature to provide a better adjustment.

Adjusting

Diversified

The most widely used chiropractic technique — a specific, hands-on thrust to restore motion in a restricted joint. This is what most people picture when they think of getting adjusted.

Beyond the spine

Extremity adjusting

Adjusting joints outside the spine — shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees, ankles and feet. Often what a spine-only approach misses.

Assessment

Motion palpation

Feeling how each joint moves through its range rather than assessing it at rest. This is how a restricted segment gets found — often not where the pain is.

Assessment

X-ray analysis

On-site imaging when it will change the plan. Used to rule things out as much as to confirm them.

Assessment

Digital foot scan

A pressure scan of both feet, showing how weight distributes and where the arch is collapsing.

Soft tissue

Active Release Technique

Pressure held on a muscle while it is taken through its range, to free adhesions that have built up between tissue layers.

Soft tissue

Myofascial release

Sustained pressure into the fascia — the sheet of connective tissue wrapping every muscle — to release restriction.

Also uses Trigger point therapy, Spinal decompression, Electrical stimulation, Corrective exercise and PNF stretching.

Two things worth knowing

You decide what I do

I would reassure them that I won’t do any adjustment they wish me not to, while also explaining the benefits and safety of the procedure.

When I’ll send you somewhere else

Any red flag on the neuro exam and I refer them for imaging and an ortho consult.

For most people, no. You may hear or feel a pop, which is gas releasing from the joint rather than bones cracking. Some people feel mild soreness afterward, similar to after a workout, usually for a day or less.

Plan for about an hour. That covers the consultation, the exam, and X-rays if they’re needed. At your second visit, Dr. Deutscher goes over the results and your care plan. Follow-up visits are shorter.
