Why I became a chiropractor

I was an active child that was constantly getting injured. After I found chiropractic I was feeling better and having less injuries.

This lead me to be able to keep doing the things that I loved and allowed me to be able to play my sport collegiately. I always knew that I liked helping people and that was something I wanted to do with my life, and once I figured out that I don’t like blood chiropractic was the clear choice.

What makes me different

I like to be able to show and describe what is going on with the patient so they have all the information available to them, rather than rushing them through just to get them treated.

What an adjustment feels like

We are trying to get stuck joints moving and there are a lot of different ways to do that, and not all of them will make a bunch of noise. But first we have to identify which joints need to be mobilized.

Outside the office

I recently got married so naturally I spend a lot of time with my wife and my dog. Usually we take our dog to parks or the local markets. If I’m not with them I’m getting together with friends, playing golf, playing volleyball, or watching sports.

Focus areas

Where I focus

Every doctor at Chiropractic Company is trained to care for the full range of spinal and musculoskeletal conditions. What differs between us is the additional training we’ve done and the patients we’ve spent the most time with.

Desk & office workers

Mostly neck pain, headaches, and TMJ issues from people who work at desks all day.

Trades & manual labor

Lower back pain from long hours on your feet

Lower back pain from long hours on your feet.

Recreational athletes

People who are wanting to be active but are having their body limit them.

Technique

How I work

West allis is a lot of people who like staying active and being involved in everything going on around them. They don’t like to be held up by the aches and pains their job or extracurricular activities may bring.

Usually first

Diversified

I like to have many ways to mobilize a joint so we can find which one works best for the patient

Then

Thompson drop-table

low force adjusting that lets gravity work for us not against us

Also

Instrument adjusting

because the snap crackle pop effect of a manual adjustment isn’t for everybody

Low force

Activator / instrument

A small handheld instrument delivers a controlled, low-force impulse to a specific spot. No twisting, no popping sound.

Beyond the spine

Extremity adjusting

Adjusting joints outside the spine — shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees, ankles and feet. Often what a spine-only approach misses.

Assessment

Motion palpation

Feeling how each joint moves through its range rather than assessing it at rest. This is how a restricted segment gets found — often not where the pain is.

Assessment

X-ray analysis

On-site imaging when it will change the plan. Used to rule things out as much as to confirm them.

Assessment

Digital foot scan

A pressure scan of both feet, showing how weight distributes and where the arch is collapsing.

Soft tissue

Myofascial release

Sustained pressure into the fascia — the sheet of connective tissue wrapping every muscle — to release restriction.

Disc & nerve

Spinal decompression / traction

Mechanical traction that creates negative pressure inside the disc, drawing it away from the nerve.

Also uses Electrical stimulation, PNF stretching, Nutrition counseling and Home exercise programming.

Two things worth knowing

You decide what I do

I would ask why is that? If they’re nervous we can start with light instrument adjusting but I always let them know how safe it is once we have screened out complicating factors.

When I’ll send you somewhere else

If anything comes back from our exam that is looking like a more advanced neurological issue than we expected we refer out to a neurologist and co-manage the patient.

For most people, no. You may hear or feel a pop, which is gas releasing from the joint rather than bones cracking. Some people feel mild soreness afterward, similar to after a workout, usually for a day or less.

Plan for about an hour. That covers the consultation, the exam, and X-rays if they’re needed. At your second visit, Dr. Bogrand goes over the results and your care plan. Follow-up visits are shorter.
